The members of Gemini Force are known by a zodiac call-sign to proect their identity during open
communications. When they meet they congregate at a round digital display table seating twelve.

Benedict Carrington

Ben is desperate to join Gemini Force but his mother won't allow him anything but ride-alongs, and the occasional training exercise. Even this, only while he’s on holiday from school. Ben dreamed of joining the army but his father made him swear not to do this until he reaches 21. He sees Gemini Force as a fast-track to an exciting future with the rescuers. However, because of his youth and inexperience, he feels constantly under pressure to prove himself to the others. Ben is a keen climber and all-round winter sports expert, having been partly raised on his mother’s family estate in Austria. Fluent in English and German. At his father’s insistence, Ben attends boarding school in the UK (Kenton College). When his mother decides to join Gemini Force, Ben is obliged to return to school for sixth form.

After the loss of both parents and the collapse of his father’s business empire, Ben’s sole and determined ambition is to prove himself worthy to become a member of Gemini Force.

Ben’s relationship with Rigel the team’s own expert rescuer dog, develops a unique role within the organisation as Rigel's main trainer.

Caroline Brandis-Carrington

Benedict’s mother, an Austrian aristocrat and widow of the hotelier Casper Carrington, heir to his business empire. After Carrington’s death, she starts her own mountain rescue agency The Caroliners. An expert climber and skier, Caroline met and married her late husband when she was working as an Alpine mountain guide in her twenties.

Caroline meets Jason Truby when she rescues Addison Nicole Dyer and another pilot from the top of the Carrington Sky-High Hotel after an accident during an air display. When the Carrington business empire collapses into bankruptcy shortly after her husband’s death, Truby offers to buy The Caroliners and roll it into Gemini Force.

Addison Dyer

Trained by the USAF from 18, but left when she faced the reality of war, in Afghanistan. She was a display pilot with the Aguilas team until the accident at the Carrington Sky High Hotel, when Countess Caroline rescued her. First to join The Caroliners. She’s apparently serious and ambitious, but has a lighter side which manifests as the architect of elaborate, twisted practical jokes. Michael Dietz has a bit of a thing for Addison, on the quiet. Tim Hardy and Paul Scott make little secret of their own interest.

Jasmine Dietz

Daughter of divorcee parent, Michael Dietz, Jasmine is frequent visitor to Gemini Force One when she is spending time with her father. She often uses humour to hide what she’s really feeling. Even when Jasmine is visiting with Dietz, she doesn’t know him as well as she would like. She attends the Lycee strand of an international school in Geneva.

Ben and Jasmine joke around and are good mates - she has her boyfriend in Geneva and Ben has his crush on Lola (age 24). One day these feelings may change...

Tim Hardy

A Scot, Tim won the Truby Scholarship for his stellar performance in his engineering finals at Oxford. He’s been training privately (paid for by Truby) as a submersible pilot since his 3rd year at Oxford. Brilliant, thoughtful - he’s a real innovator, as well as a keen blues pianist. He’s been based full-time at Gemini Force One for a year. Tim and fellow pilot Paul Scott are close pals and love to team up on missions as well as socially.

Toru Takitani

Formerly with the Japanese Air Self-Defence Force, Toru joined Gemini Force three years ago. With the recent death of his partner the first Gemini Force pilot Gary Lincoln, Toru is now the most experienced member of the pilot team at Gemini Force One. It may be the cultural barrier, or maybe it’s because he’s now the eldest, but Toru seems a bit aloof from the other pilots and spends more social time with the ‘brains’. With the loss of Gary Lincoln, he moves up to be pilot of Gemini Force’s largest aircraft - Gemini Force Two.

Julia Bencke

Until recently a test pilot and engineer at Brazilian aircraft company Embraer, Julia seems happy at Gemini Force One. She is hard-working and conscientious, meticulous about process.

Paul Scott

Poached a year from the Royal Australian Air Force. A second-generation Aussie, Paul still has family in Scotland. Paul is reckless, an adrenaline junkie, a keen skateboarder and snowboarder in his spare time, and drawn to more extreme sports but forbidden to indulge while under contract with Gemini Force. When there’s a rescue to be done, Paul’s the first in line. However, he’s the one most likely to make mistakes. So far, he’s been lucky. And in this game you need luck.

Jason Truby

A telecoms billionaire, Truby is famous for having both funded and participated in a space mission to the asteroid 1036 Ganymed. An unknown mineral ganymedian was found in the metric ton of material brought back. Twelve years ago, Professor Gerald Anderson, a nuclear physicist who is partly funded by Trubycom, developed the 5kg of ganymedian as a super-power source, enough to power a few cities.

Truby founded Gemini Force as a private rescue agency, a memorial to his twin brother Jonathan who died during the Iraq War. Truby’s own private grief makes him a sympathetic surrogate-father to Ben after the loss of the boy’s parents. Truby was falling in love with Caroline when she died. He feels her loss almost as keenly as does Ben.

Michael Dietz

An electronic engineer, Dietz worked for Trubycom from age 32 and was quickly spotted. He’s been a pilot for 4 years, but now rarely joins in with a rescue. Cool under pressure and usually good-humoured, Dietz is Truby’s go-to guy when he needs to discuss plans at high-level.

Jasmine, his 15-year old daughter, often visits him on Gemini Force One. The rest of her time she’s with her mother in Geneva. Caroline, James and Dietz are the only members of Gemini Force who have children.

Nina Atalas

A medic, trained at Harvard Medical School, expert on trauma surgery. She’s been shaken by her failure to save pilot Gary Lincoln - the team reached him too late. Her son, Denny (17), is a student at Columbia University in NYC where he mainly lives with his father.

Lola Reyes

She trained at Harvard, where she was once a student of Nina’s. Recently graduated and recruited as an additional clinician. This is another aspect of Truby’s response to the loss, in the field, of pilot Gary Lincoln.

James Winch

Geological engineer with experience in on-shore oil drilling, James is the resident expert at the Israeli martial art/self-defence combat Krav Maga, trained by a former Mossad agent. James is training all members of Gemini Force to use Krav Maga. James also has a teenage daughter, Rachel, who lives with her mother in Brighton.

Rigel The Dog

A flat-coated retriever. Countess Caroline’s dog from her country seat in Austria. Was her mother’s blind-guide dog; when her mother passed away, Caroline kept it as a pet (she and Ben had grown very attached). Ben has the bright idea to train him for missions, and works with Dietz to make devices that can make Rigel do cool stuff.
